Maximum Innings to Pitch and Still Be Eligible the Next Day:
A player has a limit on how many innings they can pitch in one day and still be eligible to pitch the following day.
For 7U–14U divisions: A player can pitch up to three (3) innings in a single day and remain eligible to pitch the next day.
If a player pitches more than three (3) innings, specifically three and one-third (3 1/3) innings or more, they are ineligible to pitch the following day.
Maximum Innings Allowed in One Day:
For 7U–12U divisions: A player can pitch a maximum of six (6) innings in one day but would be ineligible to pitch the next day.
For 13U–14U divisions: A player can pitch up to seven (7) innings in one day but would be ineligible to pitch the next day.
Maximum Innings Allowed Over Three Consecutive Days:
There is a limit to the total number of innings a player can pitch over a span of three consecutive days.
If a player pitches more than three (3) innings in a single day, they must rest the following day.
If a player pitches eight (8) innings over two consecutive days, they must rest the next day.
If a player pitches on three consecutive days, regardless of the total innings pitched, they must rest the next day.
One (1) out = 1/3 of an inning
Two (2) outs = 2/3 of an inning
Three (3) outs = a full inning
If a pitcher appears in a game but records no outs, they are not charged with any innings pitched.
Outs recorded in a game that ends in forfeit still count toward a pitcher's innings limit.
A pitcher is considered in violation of these rules if they record any outs beyond the legal limit. However, if a pitcher exceeds the limit due to a double or triple play, it will not count as a violation but will still be included in their total innings for eligibility purposes.
It is each team’s responsibility to report any pitching violations by informing the umpire and filing a protest with the League or Tournament Director.
A protest must be submitted immediately after the violating pitcher records an out beyond their allowed limit and while they are still in the game.
If the violation occurs on the last recorded out of the game, the protest must be filed before the umpire and protesting team leave the field.
Penalty: Any violation results in the immediate forfeiture of the game.
Pitch Counts: In major events, pitch count limits may be used if approved by the BSV Tournament Director.
Mound Visits: Each team is allowed two (2) coaching visits per inning to the mound. If a coach visits the same pitcher twice in the same inning, the pitcher must be replaced.
Pitching to a Batter: A pitcher must continue pitching to a batter until one of the following occurs:
The batter is out
The batter reaches first base
The inning ends
If a pitcher starts an inning, they must face at least one batter until that batter reaches base or is retired.
Injury Exception: If a pitcher is injured, the umpire has the discretion to determine whether they must continue pitching to the batter or not.
The last batter from the previous inning will be placed on second base.
The inning will begin with one out.
The last three batters from the previous inning will be placed on base as follows:
Last hitter from the previous inning → First base
Hitter before them in the lineup → Second base
Hitter before that in the lineup → Third base
Normal substitution rules apply to these base runners.
Play will continue until one team leads at the end of an inning.
